Webflow Summer Released 2024: Event Recap
Explore the new Webflow features unveiled during the first “Summer Released” to be even more effective and proactive in your new projects.
Webflow unveiled its very first event yesterday on its YouTube channel Summer Released 2024, revealing a series of new features for designers, developers and especially marketers for whom it will be much easier and faster to publish new content! This article summarizes the main new features announced during this event.
1. Webflow goes all out on components and the way to manage its content in a “reusable” way
Possibility to modify CMS pages directly from the visual editor
Webflow has made significant progress in making its CMS (Content Management System) more visual and intuitive. From now on, you can edit CMS content directly in the Designer without going through the dedicated CMS interface. This feature allows content to be viewed and edited exactly as it will appear for site visitors, reducing context changes and improving the efficiency and speed of publishing content.
Launch of the beta slots components
A new element will soon be arriving in Webflow components: The”Page slot“.
Slot components allow designers and developers to create components with placeholders, offering increased flexibility for content. This avoids complex workarounds and makes it easy to integrate different components while maintaining a coherent design structure.
The shared “libraries” of components and variables
Probably my favorite point!
Growth, Agency, and Enterprise plan users will soon be able to share component libraries And of variables between several sites within their Workspace. This feature simplifies design consistency management and makes it easier to reuse of design elements through various projects.
Concretely how does it work? All you have to do is create a project in your Webflow Dashboard listing all the variables, elements (navbar, footer, sections, buttons), colors... defined as a source library to then synchronize it with your new projects and come pick the items you need. A considerable time saver!
2. Enhanced control and collaboration
New CMS APIs
Webflow has expanded its public CMS APIs, introducing new “slash-live” endpoints to directly access published versions of items and improved filtering and sorting capabilities. Rate limits have also been increased for Enterprise customers, allowing up to 1000 requests per minute in some cases.
Specific access to sites
Some time ago, Webflow introduced site-specific access control, allowing Workspace owners and administrators to designate which users have access to which sites. This feature increases security and makes it easier to manage large teams. By adding to this list the “marketer” profile we are increasing a notch in the freedom granted to the various teams in charge of a web project.
Drag-and-drop page construction
With the recent new feature of”Static pages template“ Webflow will soon introduce a drag-and-drop method for building pages, aimed at less technical users like marketing teams. This new interface will allow create pages quickly and consistently from components approved and locked by the design and development teams.
A member of the company can therefore, for example, create a new landing page, modify all its content and publish it in record time and in complete autonomy. So the concept of free pages.
3. Artificial intelligence (AI) news
Acquisition of Intellimize
Webflow recently acquired Intellimize, a company specialized in personalizing and optimizing web experiences through AI. This acquisition will allow customization and large-scale testing functionalities to be integrated directly into Webflow, offering personalization superpowers to content teams.
AI Optimize
technology AI Optimize by Intellimize makes it possible to maximize conversions by automatically adjusting personalization to each unique visitor. Marketing teams will be able to test and customize different versions of web pages, optimizing content for any type of user with much more iterations and conversion optimization than the AB Testing system.
4. Improvements: Webflow's partners and its ecosystem
The little things that make a difference for Webflow developers
At the end of the video, Webflow summarizes all the”Tiny But Mighty Updates“, like the support for rem and em units on the Figma to Webflow plugin, keyboard navigation improvements to make the designer more accessible, and the automatic conversion of CMS assets to WebP, to name just a few examples.
New marketplace
The Webflow Marketplace continues to grow with over 1200 new templates and 40 applications added this year. New applications include the Relume Site Builder Import, the LottieFiles app, and Asset Bae, an AI-powered app for optimize SEO tasks.
Conclusion
The announcements made during Webflow Summer Released 2024 clearly show Webflow's commitment to providing ever more powerful and intuitive tools for its users. Whether you are a designer, developer, or marketer, these new features are designed to improve your workflow and maximize the impact of your websites. Get ready for the Webflow Conf next October !
